A self-proclaimed witch priestess accused her former warlock boss of Harassment and requested a civil protection order be issued in court. The judge did grant the protection order after hearing testimony from the witch about the alleged harassing behavior she has had to endure. Apparently, the warlock had been calling the witch incessantly even into the nighttime and posting horrible things about her on Facebook. The one time business partners had a falling out when the witch decided to venture out on her own, making the two business rivals. The witch claimed she could see into her own future and that is why she needs the protection order. She knows what will happen in the future and I guess the protection order can change things. If the witch decided to, she could file a report with the police and the warlock could face criminal Harassment charges. I’d like to see him magic his way out of that.
Protection Orders in Weld County
There are two types of protection orders that can be issued in Weld, Morgan, and Logan County:
- Criminal mandatory protection order – C.R.S. 18-1-1001
- Civil protection order – C.R.S. 13-14-105
A criminal mandatory protection order is automatically entered when a person is charged with a Title 18 violation like Assault, False Imprisonment, or Sexual Assault. These are usually issued by a judge during a defendant’s first court appearance. The court can decide to modify the conditions of the mandatory protection order at any time during the case.
A protected party must apply for a civil restraining order. That person must prove to a judge that a restraining is necessary. This is done by showing proof of violence, threatened violence, domestic violence, abuse, harassment, or stalking. If there is evidence proving the allegations, a temporary restraining order will be issued and a hearing will be set for a permanent protection order.
